MBALE. It is was all excitement as Centenary Bank unveiled its new six-storey ultra -modern business complex in Mbale City.
Located along Main Street, the new building has transformed Mbale’s skyline and strengthened the city’s reputation as a commercial hub for Eastern Uganda.
The magnificent complex now serves as both Centenary Bank’s regional headquarters for Eastern Uganda and the upgraded home of the Mbale branch.
Its commissioning marks a major leap from the bank’s former modest branch setup, ending its reliance on rented premises and symbolizing the growing financial confidence in the region.
Presiding over the function at the weekend, Archbishop of Tororo Archdiocese, Emmanuel Obbo urged Ugandans in Eastern Uganda to match their faith with practical action through hard work, cooperation, and honesty — values he described as key to unlocking sustainable socio-economic transformation.
The prelate called on believers and communities across Eastern Uganda to align their faith with productive action by embracing programs that foster self-reliance and socio-economic transformation.
“I call upon all the people of God in the Archdiocese of Tororo and the metropolitan region to continue working hard and to embrace programs for socio-economic transformation, which will open up many opportunities for our people,” he said.
“With all these opportunities, we should be able to support church projects, contribute to development, and promote moral integrity.”
Archbishop Obbo commended Centenary Bank for decentralizing services and investing in regional infrastructure, noting that such efforts drive private-sector growth, create jobs, and promote inclusive development.
“I hope and pray that this building becomes a centre of service and socio-economic transformation for communities in Eastern Uganda,” he said.
“True development is not measured only in profits and buildings, but in how many lives are uplifted and how faithfully we serve the common good.”

Centenary Bank Board Chairperson Prof. Gustavio Bwoch said the investment demonstrates the bank’s commitment to regional growth and community empowerment.
“This branch will create employment, support agribusiness and small enterprises, strengthen financial literacy, and build a resilient local economy in Eastern Uganda,” he said.
He added that the bank is also developing a three-tier data centre in Masaka to boost digital banking services and customer experience.
Centenary Group Board Chairperson Prof. George Ddumba Sentamu described the Mbale complex as a strategic milestone in the bank’s national expansion drive.

“We envision a space where customers are welcomed with dignity, served with excellence, and empowered to achieve their financial goals — a space where innovation meets inclusion and every transaction contributes to transformation,” he said.
Prof. Ddumba also unveiled the Centenary Unitrust Scheme, a forthcoming financial service designed to enable Ugandans to invest collectively and grow their savings under Centenary Trust Limited.
