Borderless Rewards: MTN Momo Transforms Cross-Border Payments with New Campaign

MTN Mobile Money Uganda has launched a new promotion, “Power to Be Borderless,” aimed at rewarding customers who carry out cross-border transactions. The campaign seeks to encourage greater use of mobile money across international markets, while giving users incentives that go beyond the traditional sending and receiving of funds.

Through the promotion, both senders and receivers of cross-border transactions stand a chance to win rewards. Customers sending money abroad may win fully paid trips, while recipients in Uganda can benefit from shopping vouchers, gift hampers, and other exciting prizes. Every qualifying transaction automatically enters the customer into the draw, increasing their chances of winning with each additional transfer.

The initiative comes at a time when MTN Momo is broadening its interoperability, allowing Ugandan customers to directly pay merchants in neighbouring countries such as Tanzania using their mobile wallets. Travellers can also now make seamless payments in global locations including Dubai Duty Free, extending the convenience of Momo beyond Uganda’s borders.

MTN Momo executives explained that the campaign is designed to transform how Ugandans perceive and use digital finance. By offering rewards alongside functionality, the company aims to promote financial inclusion, ease the burden of cross-border trade, and provide customers with secure and convenient ways of transacting while travelling or doing business abroad.

The campaign will run until the end of the year, with winners announced regularly through MTN Momo’s official communication channels. Customers are urged to embrace the service not only for the convenience of sending and receiving money internationally, but also for the added value of the rewards that accompany their transactions.

With the “Power to Be Borderless” campaign, MTN Momo is signalling a future where mobile money users are no longer confined by geography, but instead connected to opportunities across the region and beyond.
