Vipers SC 2-0 Express
Vipers SC were officially crowned champions of the 2025/26 StarTimes Uganda Premier League after a comfortable 2-0 victory over Express FC at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on the final day of the season.
The Venoms sealed their eighth league title in front of a jubilant home crowd thanks to second-half goals from Karim Watambala and substitute Gusto Mulongo. Watambala opened the scoring from the penalty spot just two minutes after the restart following a foul on Yunus Sentamu, before Mulongo wrapped up the victory with a composed finish in the 69th minute.
The win saw Vipers finish the campaign on 67 points, five ahead of runners-up KCCA. After the match, FUFA Second Vice President Taibu Azar, alongside club patron Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa and representatives from league sponsors StarTimes, handed the trophy to captain Milton Karisa during colourful celebrations at Kitende.
KCCA signed off their season with a convincing 4-1 victory over Mbarara City at Lugogo. Ivan Ahimbisibwe, who finished as the league’s top scorer, was on target alongside Ettiene Katenga, Emmanuel Anyama and Kennedy Muserero. Clinton Kamugisha scored the visitors’ consolation while Karim Ramadhan was sent off late on.
SC Villa also ended the season on a positive note with a 2-1 win against UPDF. Goals from Isaac Mpagi and Patrick Kakande secured maximum points for the Jogoos, who completed the campaign in third place on 61 points.
At Royals Park in Butema, Kitara FC twice fought back to earn a 2-2 draw against Police FC. Umar Kasumba netted both goals for Police, but Patrick Kaddu and Jimmy Kalema responded for the hosts in an entertaining contest that also saw Daniel Jakony sent off. Kitara finished fourth on 56 points as they now switch focus to the Stanbic Uganda Cup final.
Maroons secured eighth place after edging Lugazi 1-0 courtesy of Dickson Niwamanya’s late strike, while Entebbe UPPC produced the biggest win of the day with a dominant 4-0 triumph over BUL FC. Eric Ssenjobe scored twice, with Laban Tibita and Emmanuel Isabirye also finding the back of the net.
Elsewhere, NEC FC suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat away to already relegated Calvary FC, who earned victory through goals from Lawrence Olaboro and Shukur Said.
