KAMPALA. Police in Kampala on Thursday evening arrested a 41-year-old man they describe as the prime suspect in the suspected murder of Afrigo Band musician Moses Matovu.
“The prime suspect in connection with the murder of Afrigo Band musician Matovu Moses has been arrested,” Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala said in an update on Thursday.
Kawala identified the suspect as Vincent Nsamba and said he was arrested in Ochange Ward, Yesu Amala, Nansana Division, Wakiso District. She gave no details of the operation that led to his arrest.
“Investigations into the murder are ongoing, with police working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and bring all those responsible to justice,” she said.
Earlier, Kawala said Matovu had gone to his girlfriend’s residence at Kibuli Depot in Makindye Division at about 5:30 a.m. on Thursday.

The two were allegedly confronted as they left by a man said to have previously been in a relationship with the woman.
Police said the encounter may have involved a physical altercation, but had not established how Matovu sustained his injuries.
A boda boda rider took him to Kibuli Hospital, where he later died.
The woman who was with Matovu is also in police custody and assisting detectives.
Police have not said whether Nsamba has been charged.
