Mubajje signs condolence book following death of former Qatari Emir

KAMPALA.‎His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje, the Mufti of Uganda, on Thursday paid a condolence visit to the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Kampala to express his personal sympathies and those of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) and the wider Muslim community following the death of the former Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

‎‎The former Emir passed away on July 12, 2026. He is remembered for his transformative leadership, having voluntarily abdicated the throne in 2013 in favour of his son, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the current Emir of Qatar.

‎The Mufti was accompanied by His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Hafiz Muhammad Harunah Bukenya, the Second Deputy Mufti, and was received at the embassy by H.E. Abdallah Ahmed Al Jufairi, Chargé d’Affaires and Acting Head of Mission.

‎‎While signing the condolence book, the Mufti conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to the Emir, the Government and the people of Qatar.

‎‎”Indeed, your late father has left an enduring positive legacy that will be remembered for generations,” the Mufti wrote.

‎The visit underscored the longstanding cordial relations between the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council and the State of Qatar, as well as the shared bonds of solidarity within the global Muslim community.

‎Also present was Dr. Sheikh Ahmad Muhammad Kisule, the Presidential Advisor on Middle East Affairs.
