Two Children Killed, Three Injured in Early Morning Stabbing Attack in Kampala

KAMPALA: Two children have been killed and three others injured in a stabbing attack at Kalungu Bunga, Ggaba Parish in Makindye Division, Kampala.

The incident occurred at about 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2026, according to Kampala Metropolitan Police South.

The deceased have been identified as Khadija Daizy, 14, who was found dead in her bedroom, and Hawa Dalena, 7, who later succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment at Nsambya Hospital.

Three other children, aged 13, 8 and 5, survived the attack and are receiving medical treatment.

Police said a housemaid was awakened by an alarm and cries for help coming from the main house. When she went to check, she found several children with severe stab wounds and alerted the authorities.

The suspect has been identified as Namayo Dorothy, 43, a Kenyan national and mother of the victims. She was also found injured and is currently admitted at Mulago National Referral Hospital under police guard.

During the incident, a Toyota Hiace vehicle parked at the premises was set on fire and completely burnt.

Police Fire Prevention and Rescue Services responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. A jerrycan suspected to have contained petrol was also recovered.

Police have commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the attack and the motive behind the incident.
