Watoto Ministries has been selected to host the thanksgiving service marking the 33rd coronation anniversary of the Kabaka of Buganda, His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.
The announcement was made by the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, during a press briefing at Bulange, Mengo, where he officially unveiled the programme for this year’s coronation celebrations. The briefing was attended by the Team Leader of Watoto Ministries Uganda, Pastor Julius Rwotlonyo.
Mayiga said the Kabaka approved a rotational arrangement under which different Christian denominations will host the annual coronation thanksgiving service. This year’s service will be held at Watoto Church, Bweyogerere, on July 30 as part of the activities commemorating the Kabaka’s 33 years on the throne.
The Katikkiro also outlined the programme of events leading up to and during the coronation celebrations, calling on the public to participate in the activities organised to mark the milestone.
Speaking at the briefing, Pastor Julius Rwotlonyo expressed gratitude to the Buganda Kingdom for entrusting Watoto Ministries with hosting the service. He pledged that the church would organise a memorable and spiritually uplifting celebration.
Rwotlonyo noted that the occasion will be historic, as Watoto Ministries becomes the first Pentecostal church to host the Kabaka’s coronation thanksgiving service.
