We will release 2025 PLE results on Friday-Uneb

KAMPALA.The Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) is set release the results of last year’s Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results this Friday.

According to Ms Jennifer Kalule, the Uneb spokesperson, the release date was arrived at on Wednesday evening following a closed-door meeting between Uneb officials and the Education Minister, Janet Kataha Museveni.

“The release has been set for Friday, January 30, 2026 at 11:00 am at State Lodge, Nakasero. The briefing of the Minister of Education and Sports has been successfully conducted and recognised by stakeholders,” Ms Kalule said on Wednesday.

She added that Ms Museveni appreciated the efforts of the board in ensuring that the results are released on time.

The announcement of the release of 2025 PLE results was made amid speculations that the temporary shutdown of the internet that commenced two days before the January 15 general elections could delay the release, an allegation UNEB strongly refuted.

Ms Kalule clarified that the marking, verification, and quality assurance processes for the 2025 PLE were done as planned and that the temporary internet interruption didn’t disrupt the process.

Available records indicate that a total of 818,010 candidates registered for the 2025 PLE. This represented a 2.5 per cent increase from the 797,444 candidates who registered in 2024.

Of the 818,010 candidates who sat for PLE last year, 428,398 are girls, and 389,589 are boys.

Last year, the 2024 PLE results were officially released on January 23, a week earlier than the ones of 2025.

According to the education calendar for this year, the reporting date for the Senior One is February 16.
