The United States has congratulated President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni upon his inauguration as President of Uganda, reaffirming its commitment to continued cooperation with Uganda on trade, regional security, and public health.
In a statement issued by the U.S. State Department Bureau of African Affairs
, the United States said it looked forward to strengthening its partnership with Uganda in areas of mutual interest.
“The United States congratulates Yoweri Museveni on his inauguration as President of Uganda,” the statement read.
The U.S. delegation at the swearing-in ceremony was led by Nick Checker, the Senior Bureau Official for African Affairs at the U.S. State Department, who represented Washington during the official inauguration events in Kampala.
According to the statement shared on the Bureau of African Affairs’ official X platform, the United States intends to continue working closely with Uganda to advance shared goals, particularly in promoting trade and investment as part of the broader shift from traditional aid-based relations.
The statement also highlighted continued collaboration in supporting regional peace and security initiatives, an area where Uganda has played a key role through peacekeeping missions and regional stabilization efforts across East and Central Africa.
In addition, the United States emphasized the importance of strengthening sustainable health systems to help prevent dangerous disease outbreaks, an issue that remains critical in the region following recent global and regional health challenges.
President Museveni was sworn in for another term during a ceremony attended by several African leaders, diplomats, and international delegations, underscoring Uganda’s continued diplomatic engagement with partners across the world.
