KAMPALA — Pride Bank Limited has attained ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification, an internationally recognised standard for information security management, underscoring the bank’s commitment to safeguarding customer information and strengthening cybersecurity controls.
The certification confirms that the bank has established and implemented a structured information security management system designed to identify, assess and address risks related to data protection and information security.
ISO/IEC 27001:2022, developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), provides globally accepted guidelines for managing information security and protecting sensitive data from emerging threats.
To achieve the certification, Pride Bank underwent an independent audit conducted by Certi-Trust, an accredited certification body. The assessment evaluated the bank’s systems, policies and procedures to ensure they met international requirements for information security, risk management and operational resilience.
Speaking on the achievement, Certi-Trust Managing Director Mike Kamau congratulated the bank, noting that certification represents an important milestone but requires continuous commitment to maintain.

He observed that organizations operate in an environment characterised by rapid technological change, evolving regulations and emerging security threats, making continuous improvement essential for long-term compliance.
Kamau said the certification process is intended not only to verify existing controls but also to encourage organizations to strengthen their security culture and regularly review their systems.
As part of the certification framework, Pride Bank will be subject to periodic surveillance audits to ensure ongoing compliance with the standard and will be included in Certi-Trust’s international certification register.
Bank officials said the achievement follows sustained investments in technology infrastructure, governance frameworks and staff capacity building aimed at enhancing information security across the institution.
They noted that data protection and cybersecurity have become integral components of the bank’s operations and strategic planning, particularly as the institution continues to expand its digital banking services.
Pride Bank, one of Uganda’s indigenous commercial banks, has increasingly invested in digital platforms, including mobile and internet banking solutions. According to the bank, the certification strengthens customer confidence by demonstrating its commitment to protecting information assets, maintaining regulatory compliance and responding effectively to evolving cyber risks.
