A 26-year-old Kyambogo University student has been found dead in her room at a hostel in Banda.
The University announced on Monday that the student identified as Precious Musimenta was pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance, was found dead at Sports Pro-Hostel in Banda on Monday, September 28, 2026.
She was attached to North Hall, according to the university’s Office of the Dean of Students.
The circumstances under which she died remain unclear, with the university saying investigations are being conducted to establish what happened.
“The late was found dead in her room at Sports Pro-Hostel in Banda today, Monday 28th September 2026,” The university Dean of Students Agnes Nakimuli said in a Monday communication.
The university said Precious’s body had been taken to City Mortuary, where a postmortem examination will be conducted.
“The body has been taken to City Mortuary for further investigations where a post mortem report on the cause of her death will be provided,” She said.
The postmortem is expected to provide more information on the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
Precious was registered at the university under registration number 26/UIAFD/06334/PD.
The Student Welfare Department has since started engaging Precious’s family over arrangements for her burial, according to the university.
Her death has left the university community awaiting further information as investigations continue.
The university has not yet disclosed any suspected cause of death, pending the findings of the postmortem examination.
