RUBANDA.Two men were injured and rushed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital after a Toyota Corolla collided head-on with a truck at Nyamasisi Junction on the Kabale-Kisoro Road.
Two men were injured on Tuesday evening after a Toyota Corolla collided with an oncoming truck at Nyamasisi Junction along the Kabale-Kisoro Road in Rubanda District.
Kigezi Region Police spokesperson Nelson Tumushime said the crash occurred at about 6pm and involved a HOWO Sino Truck, registration number UA 099DX, and a Toyota Corolla, registration number UBA 630X. He blamed the crash on speeding.
Traffic Police officers in Rubanda, together with emergency responders, rushed to the scene and evacuated the two injured men to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for treatment.
“The two unidentified male victims were transported to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for medical care,” Tumushime said.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the crash was caused by speeding.
According to Tumushime, the driver of the Toyota Corolla lost his lane and collided with the oncoming truck, which was travelling from the Kisoro direction.
Police have urged motorists to observe traffic regulations, particularly speed limits, to reduce road crashes.
“Drivers are reminded to obey traffic rules, ensure their vehicles are roadworthy and avoid driving when fatigued,” Tumushime said.
The condition of the two injured men had not been established by press time.
