KAMPALA, Uganda – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has fulfilled his pledge to support the Bishop of Busoga Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Prof. Dr. Grace Lubaale, by donating a brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser to facilitate his pastoral ministry.
The pledge was made six months ago during Bishop Lubaale’s consecration and enthronement on December 14, 2025, where the Vice President, Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo, represented the President. The vehicle was officially handed over during a ceremony held at the Vice President’s Office in Kampala on June 14, 2026.
While presenting the vehicle, Vice President Alupo described the donation as recognition of the bishop’s dedicated service to both the Church and society.
“You recall that at your consecration as Bishop of Busoga Diocese on December 14, 2025, I had the honour of representing His Excellency the President. On that occasion, he pledged to support your ministry with a vehicle to ease your pastoral work,” Alupo said.

“Today, I am pleased to deliver on that promise. On behalf of His Excellency, I hand over this vehicle to you, the Bishop of Busoga Diocese. May it help you as you reach out to the faithful across this Diocese,” she added.
The Vice President emphasized that the government values the Church as an important partner in promoting education, moral values, and social transformation. She commended Bishop Lubaale for his servant leadership and efforts to foster unity among the people of Busoga.
Alupo also conveyed greetings and blessings from President Museveni and the First Lady, Janet Museveni, and requested the bishop’s continued prayers for the nation and its leadership.
“Receive this vehicle in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,” she said.
Earlier in the day, the Vice President joined Christians at St. Kaloli Lwanga Parish, Ggaba, for Holy Mass, where she congratulated Ugandans on the peaceful conclusion of the 2026 election season and the subsequent political appointments.
Receiving the vehicle, Bishop Lubaale expressed gratitude to President Museveni for the generous support, saying the donation would greatly enhance his ability to serve Christians across the Diocese.
“This vehicle will help me reach different parts of the Diocese, not only to preach the Gospel of Christ but also to mobilize Christians to embrace development and fight poverty,” Bishop Lubaale said.

He noted that improved transport would enable him to travel more easily from parish to parish, promoting reconciliation, unity, and spiritual growth among Christians throughout Busoga Diocese.
The donation underscores the continued partnership between government and faith-based institutions in advancing community development, moral leadership, and national cohesion.
